2nd Quarter Report Cards
The end of the second quarter is Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018. Report cards will be sent home with your child next week, Friday, Feb. 9, 2018. We hope that when you receive it, you review it with your child. For the majority of our students and their parents, the report is welcomed with good news. However, in case your child needs improvement in reading and /or mathematics make arrangements to meet with your child’s teacher and ask about tutoring opportunities so that we can all be part of your child’s success.
Hurley School is sponsoring a fund raising drive to raise money for student activities. To help us raise funds, we are taking orders from the Cookie Dough catalog. Students can win exciting prizes by selling 3, 6 or 10 items. Parents can help by taking the brochure to work and take orders from friends or coworkers. Please return all orders and money on Friday, Feb. 16. Delivery of Cookie Dough will be on or before March 23, 2018.
We are very excited to announce that our “Hurley Hawks” will be flying to Santiago, Chile the week before Spring Break as part of our student exchange program. Our students will immerse themselves in establishing deep cross-cultural connections with Chilean students and their community. In May, another group of students will visit South Korea and they, too, will immerse themselves in the Korean culture and its people. Hurley is a world language school; we provide our students with the opportunity to learn English, Spanish, Mandarin and/or Korean. We believe that being bilingual or multi-lingual is not only healthy (memory improvement), but it also opens up a world of job opportunities. The world is changing fast, more companies do business in countries around the world, and they can’t do it without hiring globally minded people who can speak at least one foreign language. At Hurley, we believe that the best way to establish the bonds of peace, to get to know, to understand, and to learn from each other is to share a language. We wish our student travelers the very best.
Once more, thank you for your support!
